Udea olivalis

Morley’s Final Catalogue: Suffolk (Steph. Illust. 1834, p. 59). Abundant at light and by hedge-beating in the County, and England.

Recent Status: A common species in Suffolk, commoner on light land areas.

Life Style: A single brooded species flying in early summer and coming to light. The larvae feed from a webbing or spun folded leaf on a wide range of herbaceous plants. They overwinter and pupate in the larval feeding location.

Identification: A dull brown moth, sometimes greyish brown with a prominent quadrate white spot between the obscurely marked stigmata. There are other smaller white spots including one beyond the reniform stigma and four on the terminal third of the costa.
