Recent Status: A common species in Suffolk, commoner on light land areas.
Life Style: A single brooded species flying in early summer and coming to light. The larvae feed from a webbing or spun folded leaf on a wide range of herbaceous plants. They overwinter and pupate in the larval feeding location.
Identification: A dull brown moth, sometimes greyish brown with a prominent quadrate white spot between the obscurely marked stigmata. There are other smaller white spots including one beyond the reniform stigma and four on the terminal third of the costa. Recorded in 50 (86%) of 58 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1965. Last Recorded in 2023. |
