Morley’s Final Catalogue: Common on Prunus. Holbrook and very frequent at Ipswich (Whit); many beaten from wild-cherry in Bentley Woods in August; Monks Soham garden in July (Mly); Orford in July 1902 (Gibbs); Lowestoft (Bd).

Recent Status: A locally common species in Suffolk

Life Style: A single brooded summer flying species that comes to light. The larvae feed during spring inside a flowering spike of Prunus spinosa. They pupate on the ground.

Identification: A grey or grey brown species heavily speckled white with a prominent orange side to the head, thorax and wing base. It is clear white on the top of the head thorax and dorsum to the dorsal patch, beyond which there is a white patch. More Info
