Morley’s Final Catalogue: A very local species among hops. Leiston (Grey); Flixton

Recent Status: Found locally across Suffolk. More readily recorded as larval mines in the leaves of Hops, adults rarely seen.

Life Style: A single brooded species flying during May, June and July and comes to light. The larvae mine leaves of Humulus. They hibernate in a cocoon in which they then pupate.

Identification: Cosmopterix species require careful examination of the pattern to separate the species. C. zieglerella has a patch, sometimes broken in the basal part of the wing and on the side of the thorax. The terminal dash is reduced to two short dashes.
