Agonopterix curvipunctosa

(Haworth, 1811)711 / 32.020

Morley’s Final Catalogue: Among sheeps-parsley. Taken at Brandon very locally (Barrett); and at Southwold after 1890 (Ctw).

Recent Status: Local in Suffolk, especially coastal.

Life Style: Single brooded and hibernates most commonly seen in spring. Night flying and comes to light. The larvae feed from a spun leaf tube on Anthriscus or Chaerophyllum. They pupate on the ground.

Identification: This is a smaller Agonopterix species with a rounded termen. It varies in colour from almost white through cream to a light ochre. It has a strong basal dash and is pale at the wing base, thorax and head. It is variably mottled darker with spots on the costa and termen. The name comes from the twin spots that can be joined into a prominent curved mark but they are not always joined. There is a prominent but small central patch.
