Choreutis pariana

(Clerck, 1759)389 / 48.007

Morley’s Final Catalogue: Feeds on hawthorn and apple; probably common with us. Hitherto mixed with the last kind: taken at Ipswich on 9 July 1895, &c. (Mly) and once there in 1934 (Whit).

Recent Status: A rare Suffolk species.

Life Style: A multi-brooded species that hibernates. The larvae feed on Malus, Crataegus, Sorbus, Prunus and Cotoneaster. They feed from a web on the underside and skeletonise the leaf often causing it to fold over. They pupate in a cocoon on the foodplant.

Identification: A small moth with a triangular shape at rest that stands proud on all legs. It has four discrete fasciae and is banded in colour from head to termen. The colours vary from pale to dark, grey through grey browns to orange browns. More Info
