Recent Status: A moth with a restricted distribution in southern England that also arrives as an immigrant. The moth is setting up localised colonies in suitable woodland.

Life Style: The moth is single brooded flying in early summer with a possible partial second generation. The larvae feed on Hornbeam and also Oak, Hazel, Sweet Chestnut and Sorbus species. Pupae pass the winter in Britain in a folded leaf of the foodplant.

Identification: An unmistakeable moth of striking appearance.
