Recent Status: The species is recorded in Suffolk.

Life Style: The species has been recorded from May until October but is thought to be single brooded. The larvae feed on the flowers and seed heads of Lactuca virosa, L. serriola and L. sativa. They hibernate in a cocoon on the ground where they pupate.

Identification: The male does not have a costal fold. The forewings show a variable shade of brown from almost grey to almost ferruginous. The costa is paler particularly on the distal half where there are prominent strigulae. There is a pale dorsal patch sharply delimited basally but fading posteriorly. The ocellus is pale and sharply dark edged. It has two or three very narrow black dashes. More Info
