Morley’s Final Catalogue: Bred in 1934 from larvas found on Sutton Heath (Whittingham).

Recent Status: A rare species in Suffolk.

Life Style: A single brooded species that flies during May and June. The larvae feed inside the shoots and terminal buds of Pinus sylvestris, preferring lateral shoots and smaller trees. The larvae hibernate and pupate in the larval habitation.

Identification: The moth is dark blackish brown, striated plumbeous grey. The apical third is suffused orange. The palps, head, anterior of thorax and tegulae are dull orange. There is no indication of any banding or fasciation. The hindwings are dark greyish brown.
