Morley’s Final Catalogue: Not very common on rushes among Epilobium in the middle of Raydon Wood in May 1933-4 (Mly, Whit).

Recent Status: A rare species in Suffolk.

Life Style: A single brooded species that flies in sunshine during summer. The larvae feed from spun leaves of Frangula or Rhamnus. They hibernate and pupate in the larval habitation.

Identification: A well marked Ancylis species with a rounded slightly produced apex. There is a white edged orange brown basal patch reaching a little beyond half on the dorsum and to a quarter on the costa. There is a costal patch from one half with a white edges and waved dorsal edge and has pale costal strigulae and black markings. The ocellar area has an oval black marked patch. Similar species is A. compta but that species has the apex more produced and is a duller brown in colour. More Info
