Life Style: A single brooded summer flying species. The larvae feed inside a shoot of Malus species, causing buds, flowers and leaves to die. They pupate in the larval habitation.
Identification: This species can only be distinguished from B. hellerella by the presence of ochreous scales on the white area of the forewing in the dorsal white patch at the wing base. https://www.norfolkmoths.co.uk/micros.php?bf=9060 The species is otherwise similar to, but usually a little darker than, B. hellerella.
