Status
Morley’s Final Catalogue: Taken at Nayland in 1897 (Pyett); common and bred at Washbrook, Ipswich, &c., in 1932-5 (Whit.); Leiston (Grey); Southwold and Flixton on tree-trunks among stitchwort (Ctw).

Recent Status: A rare species in Suffolk.

Life Style: A single brooded late summer species. The larvae initially mine a narrow gallery along the mid-vein of a leaf of Stellaria holostea. They then leave this to feed externally on the leaves, buds, flowers and seed capsules. They pupate in a cocoon on the ground.

Identification: This is a pale Caryocolum species the wings are white or cream, shaded with a fine sprinkling of black leaving a sub-terminal line pale. There may be a limited brown colouring. The wing is dominated by a broad, oblique black bar from the costa at one quarter. This may join a spot centrally in the wing. However this is smaller and coastal.
