Recent Status: New to the UK in 1976 and has been found in Kent and Sussex. First Suffolk record 18 July 2014. The moth is known as an immigrant species.
Life Style: A single brooded night flying species that comes to light. It flies in June, July and August. The larvae feed on lichens on trees.
Identification: The moth is strikingly coloured. The palps, thorax and wings are bright orange. The head black and the forewing has three narrow white, black edged fasciae, at the base, at one quarter and at about one half. There is then a blackish suffusion with a metallic sheen at the tornus which reaches to the costa and separately along the termen. | Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required. | |
