Status
Morley's Final Catalogue: Probably quite common, and considered 'rare' in 1890 merely through dearth of April collectors. Certainly frequent enough in Bentley Woods (Mly, Baylis, Pyett) and at light in Ipswich. Recorded elsewhere from Stowmarket (C), Covehithe and Holton (Btn), Barsham (Gls), Beccles (Crowfoot), Fritton (Moore) and Belton (Wiltshire).
Recent Suffolk Status: Fairly common across the county.
Life history: Single-brooded. Very rare odd autumn records. The attractive larva has been found in the county under a Bramble clump.
Identification: The similar White-marked has a white kidney mark and oval spot.
Habitat: Woodland and scrub areas.Recorded in 50 (86%) of 58 10k Squares.
