Morley's Final Catalogue: Among the most ubiquitous of the summer Noctuae throughout the length and, from Lowestoft to Worlington, breadth of the County.
Recent Suffolk Status: Common resident along the coast and in the Brecks, with scattered records elsewhere.
Life history: Single-brooded. Seen from the June to September in Suffolk. Can be found on flowers after dark as well as coming to light. Larvae regulary found buried in loose sand on heathland sites during the day.
Identification: Both Coast dart and Garden dart lack the black triangle marks in the outer area of the forewing.
Habitat: Mainly heathland, acid grassland, coastal grassland and open woodland.Recorded in 46 (79%) of 58 10k Squares.
