Recent Suffolk Status: Formerly restricted to parts of the south coast of England, this moth has recently extended its range. It is common in London and Hertfordshire and is rapidly spreading north.
The first county record was of a singleton light-trapped at Westleton in 2004 (R. Drew). Subsequent records from light-traps came from Bawdsey Hall on 18.08.2012 (M.J. Deans), Hollesley on 20.08.2012 (R. Watson) and Woolpit, the first VC26 record on 02.08.2018 (P. Bryant). There were two further records in 2019. Records have increased rapidly especially in the Felixstowe and Ipswich areas. Colonization of the county appears to have taken place. The first larval record was from Stutton in April 2022 (S. Chamberlain). Regularly seen in the daytime on flowers.

Life history: Single brooded, flying throughout the summer.

Identification: Unmistakable.

Habitat: Gardens and hedgerows.

Recorded in 27 (47%) of 58 10k Squares.
