Status
Morley's Final Catalogue: Over the whole county, and not much rarer than the last kind [Puss Moth] on the same plants. Sudbury, scarce (Ransom); Bentley (Garrett); Waldringfield (Ent., March 1892); Martlesham, at Ipswich electric lights (Mly, Baylis, Pyett); Witnesham (Sparke); Monks Soham; Needham (L); Barsham; Lowestoft in August (Ent. 1922, 258); Gorleston (Mr). Downham (Norgate); Brandon (Wrn); Tuddenham (Wrt); Timworth in 1911 (Nurse).

Recent Suffolk Status: A local species.

Life history: Sinlge-brooded in one extended generation, although Suffolk records seem to be suggesting it may now be double-brooded.

Identification: Normally the largest of the 3 kittens, with a smooth outer edge to the dark cross-band.

Habitat: Woodland containing Poplar, Aspen and Willows.

Recorded in 39 (67%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1911.
Last Recorded in 2024.
