Status
Morley's Final Catalogue: Our sole record of this scarce and local kitten, which ranges north to York, is its capture in the unworked village of Elmsett near Hadleigh by the Revd. H. Marriott, attested by Wratislaw before 1890.
Recent Suffolk Status: A species whose fortunes have turned in the twenty-first Century. After many years absence in the county, this rare kitten can now be found sparsely in the north-east of the county, particularly around the Waveney and at a few sites in the west of Suffolk. Range expansion expected to continue.
Life history: Single-brooded.
Identification: Cross-band is much dark in colour than on the other 2 kittens, and is pinched in both sides.
Habitat: Alder and birch woodland, fens and marshes.Recorded in 16 (28%) of 58 10k Squares.
