Foodplant:   Lime, Elm, Birch and Alder.

Morley's Final Catalogue: Rarely seen outside towns, where it flies to light: fairly common in Ipswich, Stowmarket, Beccles (undersized) Gorleston &c.

Recent Suffolk Status: Common and widespread. Reddish form brunnea found occasionally.

Life history: Single brooded in late spring/summer. Larvae regularly found, mainly when leaving host trees to pupate.

Identification: No similar species occur in the county.

Habitats: Gardens, parks, woodland, wooded heathland.

Recorded in 53 (91%) of 58 10k Squares.
