Status Morley's Final Catalogue: Frequent everywhere in October, but little noted through the late date. Recently observed at Bentley Woods, freely at Ipswich lights: Aldeburgh (D), Belton (Wiltshire); annually at Monks Soham light in November 1907-34.
Recent Suffolk Status: Common.
Life history: Single-brooded. Larvae have been found fairly commonly in the county in the spring on various trees including Sallows and Crack willow.
Identification: Fairly unmistakeable, as no other species that flies late in the year looks similar.
Habitat: Various habitats including gardens.Recorded in 50 (86%) of 58 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1907. Last Recorded in 2023. |
