Status
Morley's Final Catalogue: Much broader spread than was supposed in 1890, though still mainly western. Orford in July 1902 (Gibbs); one at Southwold in 1891 (Barrett). Near Timworth in 1911 (Nurse); Herringswell, and common near the rectory in Tuddenham during May 1898 (Sparke), larvae on larch at Tuddenham (Vivian); Brandon (Barrett).

Recent Suffolk Status: Very local. Mainly seen in forestry areas.

Life history: Single-brooded.

Identification: A large greyish species of pug that has a distinctive white spot on the thorax. White-spotted and Pauper pug lack this feature.

Habitat: Forestry areas and gardens.

Verification Grade Comment: Distinctive white spot on thorax
