Status
Morley's Final Catalogue: Apparently rare. Ipswich (Ml); Aldeburgh (Wrt); Stowmarket (C); Bury (Skepper); one at Tuddenham in 1901 (Sparke).

Recent Suffolk Status: Very rare. Due to identification difficulties and the fact this moth is mainly a northern and western species in the UK the actual status of this moth as a Suffolk species is not certain.

Life history: Single-brooded.

Identification: July highflyer flies later in the year and lacks the 3 black dashes at the tip of the forewing. May highflyer normally has some greenish colouration.

Habitat: Marshy areas, Sallow carr, moorland.
