Recent Suffolk status: Common and widespread.

Life history: Single-brooded, flying in late summer/early autumn.

Identification: Unmistakeable as it is the only swift moth species flying at that time of year in the county. Female much larger than the male and browner in colour. Males very rarely brown rather than orange.

Habitats: Grasslands, gardens, woodland rides and waste ground.
