Status
Morley’s Final Catalogue: Local at Copdock (Hkg); Bentley (Harwood); Bentley Woods, where it seems quite rare on oaks, in May 1933 (Mly); Hacheston (Hkr). Unnoted in the west.

Recent Status: A rare species in Suffolk.

Life Style: A single brooded day flying species that will come to light. The larvae feed on the lower epidermis of leaves of Quercus that are spun flat together. They pupate in a cocoon away from the larval habitation.

Identification: A distinctive moth with dark brown wings. The scales are tipped, whitish ochre resulting in a dense irroration. Markings are broad silver fasciae. One basal, a double one centrally, replacing the common dorsal patch in the genus. One from the costa at two thirds that follows the basal edge of the ocellar area and is interrupted centrally by one or two black spots. There are a further three costal strigulae and there may be black ocellar marks.
