Morley’s Final Catalogue: A single example of this local kind, that feeds in rootstocks
of bugle, was taken at Aldeburgh during 1892 (Ctw).
Recent Status: Current status uncertain. The Morley record is suspect owing to the stated foodplant being for E. ustulana.
Life Style: A single brooded species that flies by day. The larvae feed in the stems of Stachys palustris. They hibernate in the rootstock and continue feeding in spring, pupating in the larval habitation.
Identification: This species and E. ustulana are similar and variable. They are marked in dark brown to black and plumbeous grey fascia.
