Status
Morley’s Final Catalogue: A fen species, common at Horning; very local with us. Fritton
Lake (Barrett); Beccles (Ctw). Thetford (Williams).

Recent Status: A rare species in Suffolk in boggy habitats.

Life Style: A single brooded species flying from May to August. They fly by day and may come to light. The larvae feed on mosses and pupate in a cocoon spun among the moss.

Identification: The forewing pattern is complex. The pale areas are white and cream. The darker areas are a shade of brown with darker brown and black markings. There are silvery grey patches. The integrity of the markings and their balance is variable.
