Life history: Single brooded in the summer. Males can be seen in the daytime flying fast over the habitat, searching for the newly emerged females. Females come regularly to light. Larvae regularly found in autumn and again in the spring.

Identification: No similar species occur in the county.

Habitats: Woodland, heathland, gardens, scrub, rough grassland.
