Stenolechia gemmella

Morley’s Final Catalogue: Taken at Culford by the late Col. Charles Nurse about 1910 (Ent. 1911, p. 221). Bentley Woods in August 1934 (Wir, Whit).

Recent Status: Recorded across Suffolk but not commonly.

Life Style: A single brooded species flying from June to September. The larvae feed in young shoots of Quercus.

Identification: A small Gelechiid that in the typical form is white peppered with black and with black markings but it can be suffused an ochreous fuscous and be almost devoid of markings. The characteristic oblique black bar, from the dorsum at two thirds, is edged white distally and always present.
