Agonopterix scopariella

(Heinemann, 1870)704 / 32.011

Morley’s Final Catalogue: Not listed.

Recent Status: Frequent in locations where the foodplant is found.

Life Style: A single brooded species that hibernates. It is night flying and comes to light. The larvae feed from spun terminal shoots or twigs on Cytisus or Lupinus arboreus. It pupates on the ground.

Identification: The moth is a pale ochreous shade variably spotted dark. It has a basal dash and central suffuse spot. The Agonopterix twin spots and two spots beyond are black and white similar to A. heracliana but not usually so large. A. heracliana has a more rounded wing tip whereas the apex is more evident for A. scopariella. The termen is weakly spotted. Some forms can be very similar to A. heracliana and in such cases genitalia dissection can separate them on the shape of the valves and its process. More Info
