Morley’s Final Catalogue: Not listed

Recent Status: Suffolk record from Wolves Wood in 2014.

Life Style: A double brooded species that flies from May through to August. The larvae mine a variety of grass species including Deschampsia cespitosa, Brachypodium sylvaticum, Poa species and Festuca species. The second brood larvae hibernate. They pupate on the ground.

Identification: The dark winged moth is one with a single fascia at one half. This is relatively narrow and may be interrupted centrally. The head and palps are completely white/ochre and the terminal cilia are ochre. This colouring distinguishes this species from other unifasciate Elachista species.
The larvae mine an irregular gallery and may mine in either direction. There can be more than one per leaf initially. They change leaves. They are dull greyish green with a pale brown head and divided prothoracic plate. More Info
