Morley’s Final Catalogue: Not listed. Nepticulids were not well studied only 21 species listed.

Recent Status: The species is recorded in Suffolk.

Life Style: The species is single brooded flying during May and June. The larvae mine leaves of Populus x canescens and P. alba. They pupate in a cocoon on the ground where they pass the winter.

Identification: The moth has an orange head tuft and white scape and collar. The dark wings have two opposing diffuse white spots on the costa and dorsum and a further less clear patch basal to these. More Info They can be identified by genitalia dissection. More Info
The larvae hatch following oviposition on a leaf stalk. They mine the stalk resulting in a slight gall and causing the partial death of the leaf. They move into the leaf base where they create a blotch mine. They are similar to E. hannoverella showing two clear lines of frass either side of the feeding larvae. More Info
