Selagia argyrella

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)1448 / 62.0181

Morley’s Final Catalogue: Not listed

Recent Status: A single record in East Suffolk during 2015. There appears to be some doubt on older records of this species in the UK so that this Suffolk record could be the only UK record. The species is considered to be a rare immigrant from Europe.

Life Style: The moth flies during summer and comes to light. The larvae feed on Calluna vulgaris.

Identification: Selagia argyrella resembles Anerastia lotella but is larger. The palps of S. argyrella are erect but long forward pointing on A. lotella. More Info .
