Diasemia reticularis

(Linnaeus, 1761)1402 / 63.043
=Phalaena litterata

Morley’s Final Catalogue: No explanation or confirmation has been later forthcoming of the Revd. Harpur Crewe's capture of one specimen of this local south-west English species at Stowmarket about 1860.

Recent Status: This once resident species in southern counties is now extinct but it can arrive as an immigrant which is the probable explanation for the single Suffolk record.

Life Style: A double brooded species flying by day and night.

Identification: An intricately marked species in brown, black and white, which is superficially similar to Diasemiopsis ramburialis. Details of the patterning should be examined to determine the species.
