Recent Status: A rare species in Suffolk. More records in recent years using pheromone lures.

Life Style: The moth has been found during April, May and June. They fly by day but will come to light. The larvae are believed to feed on Betula.

Identification: As the specific name implies this species is obscurely marked. The head and forewings are a dark fuscous marked with black. There are vague whitish costal marks and some plumbeous scales. A dorsal blotch is irregular white mixed fuscous but tends to show a double structure. An ocellus is evident with black dashes. Genitalia dissection is required for a record. More Info
