(Fischer von Röslerstamm, 1840)1135 / 49.243

Morley’s Final Catalogue: One beaten from birch at Foxhall plateau on 8 June 1900. None seen later (Mly).

Recent Status: A fairly common species on the lighter land areas of Suffolk.

Life Style: A single brooded species that flies from May to August. The larvae feed inside catkins of Betula, Alnus and Salix caprea. They pass the winter in the catkin and pupate on the ground in spring.

Identification: The moth typically has two white patches. The central one on the dorsum with one or two fine strigulae. The tornal one with a characteristically shaped anterior border. The brown wing may be ochreous marked beyond one half and there are pale paired costal strigulae. The markings are sometimes more obscure. More Info
