Morley’s Final Catalogue: Among thyme, rather local. Odd specimens at Felixstow as late as August (Mly); Tuddenham (A. Waters); among broom and furze on the Breck-sands (Ent. 1886, 81).

Recent Status: One recent Suffolk record. Some of the records by Morley could be confused with Scythris grandipennis.

Life Style: A single or double brooded day flying species with an extended summer flying period. The larvae feed from an extensive web on Helianthemum nummularium, Lotus corniculatus and Thymus polytrichum at well drained locations.

Identification: The moth is dark purplish fuscous with scattered ochre scales. The colouring of the underside of the abdomen must be used with caution as many species in the genus show it a paler colour than the dorsal side. The species must be identified by genitalia dissection. More Info
The larvae have a yellow head with a brown posterior edge and a yellow prothoracic plate with a blackish anterior margin. The body is blueish grey with yellow lines.
