Recent Status: A very rare species nationally and in Suffolk.

Life Style: A single brooded species flying during April and May. The larvae mine leaves of Crataegus.

Identification: The moth is bronze brown with a purple sheen at the tip. The head tuft is orange, the collar pale ochre and the scape white. The moth can be identified by breeding out from a mine or by genitalia dissection. http://www2.nrm.se/en/svenska_fjarilar/s/stigmella_genitalia.html
