Life Style: A single brooded species that hibernates. It flies at night and comes to light. The larvae initially mine and then feed from a web on the underside or from a spun rolled leaf of Centaurea, Cirsium, Arctium or Serratula. It pupates in a cocoon on the ground.
Identification: This species lacks a basal dash. The forewing is pale ochre variably, sometimes densely, speckled darker. It usually shows spots on the termen and the Agonopterix twin spots and central suffuse spot. There is a form with a contrasting dark thorax. Recorded in 29 (50%) of 58 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1897. Last Recorded in 2023. |
