Morley's Final Catalogue: Local in May, on oak-trunks at Assington Thicks in 1902 and on bushes at Raydon Wood in 1933 (Morley).

Life Style: Single brooded and found from April to June. Micropterix adults have jaws and feed on pollen. Their life cycles are not well known and it is often quoted that the larvae feed on tender growth of herbaceous plants. The moths are day flying.

Identification: M. tunbergella has a golden head and forewing. There are reddish bronze marks with purple reflections. On the costa these are at the base, at one third, this one may reach the dorsum, two at three fifths that are joined before extending to the tornus and one pre-apical that may also narrowly join the tornal patch. The apex and termen may also be marked.
