Morley’s Final Catalogue: Discovered to occur with the last species at Aldeburgh (Ctw).

Recent Status: A rare species in Suffolk.

Life Style: The species in single or double brooded flying from May till August. The larvae mine a variety of grass leaves. The young larvae will hibernate in the mine. They pupate away from the mine supported by a silken girdle.

Identification: The moth is a dark winged species with a prominent curved fascia in the female at one third and two white spots one on the tornus and one opposite on the dorsum. The spots are less clear in the male that has only a slight indication of the fascia by a mark on then costa. The moth is not readily distinguished from similar Elachista species. Genitalia dissection is essential for as record but may be difficult particularly for the female. More Info
The larvae are pale with a light brown head. The initial mine is a narrow gallery. They may then change leaf. Later mines are the width of the leaf and white. More Info
