Morley's Final Catalogue: Scattered throughout the county, but far less profusely than in southern England. Recently noted at Bentley woods, Melton, occasionally hibernating in Monks Shoam House during 1905-30, Beccles, Fritton, Hopton and Gorleston.

Recent Suffolk Status: Common.

Life history: Single-brooded, overwinters as an adult.

Identification: Unmistakeable.

Habitat: Woodland, marshes, parkland, gardens.

Recorded in 47 (81%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1905.
Last Recorded in 2024.
