Life Style: The moth can be found in similar situations to Tinea pellionella both indoors and in the wider environment. The larvae live in similar portable cases.

Identification: This species is similar to Tinea pellionella. Both species have similar larvae and cases. Both adults are similarly coloured and spotted. More Info T. dubiella has a more speckled appearance. T. pellionella is the commoner species. They can be separated by genitalia dissection which is required for this species. More Info
