Status
Morley's Final Catalogue: Apparently not very common. Brandon and at West Stow only (ante 1890). On ivy-blossom at Covehithe in September 1935 (Mly) and Bungay in October 1900 (Mn); Bentley in 1934 and several bred at Waldringfield in 1907 (Wlr); at light in Monks Soham House at the end of April 1932 (Mly); at sallow in Barsham (Gls) and Fritton marshes in 1936 (Mr). Sibton (Hawley).

Recent Suffolk status: Relatively common and widespread.

Life history: Double-brooded. Adults of the second generation overwinter.

Identification A very variable species with many forms. Similar to some Tortrix moths like Acleris cristana and Acleris hastiana but they are smaller and normally have raised tufts of scales on the wings.

Habitats: Woodland, woodland rides, wooded heathland, gardens.
