Morley's Final Catalogue: Generally distributed, but not very frequent. Copdock, Bentley, Ipswich, Needham, Southwold in 1897 (Ctw), larvae abundant in Beccles marshes; Yarmouth denes 1933 (Mly).

Recent Suffolk Status: Local.

Life history: Single-brooded.

Identification: Common rustic aggs are very similar but normally on the wing later in the season than Small clouded brindle which will be almost over. They also lack the central basal streak.

Habitat: Marshes, fens, Carr woodland, lake and pond margins.

Recorded in 42 (72%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1897.
Last Recorded in 2023.
