Morley's Final Catalogue: Everywhere at light, sugar and ivy-blossom in September. A pupa, dug at Sproughton on 6 February 1894, emerged on 27th of the same month (cp. Ent. Rec. 1894, 71).

Recent Suffolk status: Very common.

Life history: Adults can be seen all year round, both at light and also at rest during the daytime. Numbers are boosted by immigration in the autumn. Larvae commonly found in the county all year round, feeding on various low growing plants including many garden plants.

Identification: A very distinctive moth which is unlike any other.

Habitat: A wide variety of habitats including gardens.
