Morley's Final Catalogue: Suffolk (Stephens 1829, 88). Not very frequent; about Ipswich, rare. Copdock, Bawdsey Ferry, Waldringfield, Monks Soham, Beccles; sometimes common in Gorleston gardens and on Hopton palings in late June.

Recent Suffolk Status: Local. More common than Chamomile shark in the county.

Life history: Single-brooded. Has been found at rest in the daytime on fence posts and garden furniture in Suffolk.

Identification: Flies later in the year than the very similar Chamomile Shark. The main difference between the two species is that the black streaks extend into the fringe on Chamomile shark. In Shark they end before the fringe.

Habitat: Grassland, coastal sites, marshes, gardens.
