Recent Suffolk Status: Very scarce immigrant, mainly in the autumn. The first county record was in 2000, at Landguard, Felixstowe (N. Odin). The best year for records was 2023, when 3 were noted.
Life history: Triple-brooded on the continent.
Identification: Similar to Southern wainscot, but that has a slightly hooked forewing tip and a greyish hindwing, unlike Cosmopolitan which has a white hindwing. White-speck has a more pointed forewing and dark grey hindwings.
