Morley's Final Catalogue: Referring to both Common quaker and Hebrew character: Excessively abundant on sallow-blossom, and occasionally at light, throughout Suffolk.

Recent Suffolk Status: Very common.

Life history: Single-brooded. Occasional records noted in late autumn and through the winter months until the main flight period from March. Overwinters as a fully formed adult in the pupa so no doubt early mild spells can prompt emergence. Has been noted on Sallow blossom in Suffolk fairly regularly. Larvae can be found on various trees in late spring.

Identification: The strong patterning on this species makes it unmistakeable.

Habitat: Woodland, scrub, hedgerows, gardens.
