Status
Morley's Final Catalogue: Suffolk (Stephens, Illust. ii, 1829, p.183). Somewhat uncommon, but broad spread. Bentley Woods, Ipswich, Waldringfield, Aldeburgh, Reydon, Monks Soham at light, Needham; Tuddenham (Sparke), Brandon; Bungay, Beccles.
Recent Suffolk Status: Local. Seems to be more common in the west of the county than the east in recent times.
Life history: Single-brooded.
Identification: Pale-shouldered brocade has a broader forewing and is dark reddish-brown in colouration, unlike Light brocade and Beautiful brocade. Beautiful brocade is a more marbled moth. Light brocade has whiter areas basally and along the outer edge of the forewing.
Habitat: Woodland, scrub, fens.Recorded in 42 (72%) of 58 10k Squares.
