GB Status: Common
Verification Grade:  Adult: 1

Morley's Final Catalogue: Not infrequent throughout the whole county. Copdock, Bentley Woods, distinctly scarce around Ipswich, Aldeburgh, somewhat frequent at Monk Soham light in August, Needham and common in Tuddenham Fen during July and September. Thorndon Fen, Bungay, Fritton, Gorleston.

Recent Suffolk Status: Local.

Life history: Single-brooded in one long extended generation.

Identification: Dark Bordered beauty is similar but this species does not occur in the county, only being found in the north of the UK.

Habitat: River valleys, woodland, fens, gardens.

Recorded in 46 (79%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1940.
Last Recorded in 2023.
